Welcome to the Orlando Crew Base!


Greetings to all those assigned to this crew base. My name is Mike Vogan SWA5001 the Crew Base Manager. Chris Turpin SWA5002 and Taylor LiRocchi SWA5003 are the Asst Crew Base Managers. We would like to welcome you to the great Hub of Orlando. Please have a look around and see the great new things we have in store for you all and those looking to become a part of our family. 7.04.10 End of the Month Update. I would like to again welcome all our new pilots to Orlando, it is great to have you all join us. Congrats to Ronald Perkins, he had a terrific month of flying this month. We are noticing a lot of errors in the PIREPS again. If you have any questions please ask. We highly encourage the use of FSAcars, this will illiminate a lot of the errors, if there are any questions about FSAcars please don't hesitate to ask. Just a reminder please double check your PIREPS prior to submission for accuracy. Again keep up the great work hope to see you all in the air.

6.07.10 End of the Month Update. I would like to again welcome all our new pilots to Orlando, it is great to have you all join us. Congrats to Ronald Perkins, he had a terrific month of flying this month. For those who may not know Southwest Airlines announced in May the intension to begin service to Charleston (CHS) and Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP) in 2011. Just a reminder please double check your PIREPS prior to submission for accuracy. Again keep up the great work hope to see you all in the air.

5.01.10 End of the Month Update. I would like to again welcome all our new pilots to Orlando, it is great to have you all join us. Congrats to Ronald Perkins, he had a terrific month of flying this month. I would also like to remind everyone that the Westjet Codeshare flights are done, we will no longer be accepting PIREPS for those flights. I would like to remind everyone I do go through the roster quite frequently, per the SOP if you are not active for 30 days you will be moved to inactive. I would also remind everyone please make sure you check the forums for SWVA events, anyone that flys these events that meet the minimum 3 flights per the SOP will be awarded double hours, just make sure in the remarks section of the PIREP the event. Again keep up the great work hope to see you all in the air.

3.04.10 Asst Crew Base Managers. I would first like to say thank you for all of those who showed an interest and submitted resumes' for the Asst Crew Base Manager position. This was not an easy decision to make. I am pleased to announce that Chris Turpin who joins us from a previous VA with management experience and Taylor LiRocchi who we all know as the former Events Director will be the Asst Crew Managers for Orlando.

I would also like to say congrats to our 3 newest Chief Pilots, Ray Sanders, Ron Perkins and Ron Hoffman, way to go guys and great job. The gates info button on this page has been updated as well for those that would like to use it, it has all the correct gate numbers for all airports. Orlando, congrats to all you guys another great month of flying. Just a reminder double check you PIREPS prior to submission to ensure all required information is there and correct. We still haven't hit the 1000 hour mark for a single month so lets get out there and get ur dun. Again keep the great work hope to see you all in the air.

2.17.10 KMCO Crew Base Assistant Manager. There is an opening in Orlando (KMCO) for an Assistant Crew Base Manager. If you are interested and wish to apply for the position, submit your resume to Eric Ness, V.P. of Operations. Resumes' need to be submitted NLT than 22 Feb 2010. Applications will be reviewed as per the SOP. Minimum requirements applicant must be in good standing with SWV and have at least 250 hours filed, VATSIM and company equipment knowledgeable, must be able to participate in the forum to answer questions and deal with issues that may occur and web page design knowledge recommended.

As you all can see we had a great month for January, great way to start out the year. Earlier in the month MCO sponored the Buffalo Wings Dash, we had a good turnout and hope to see more pilots get involved in the flyins. We still haven't hit the 1000 hour mark for the month so lets get out there and get ur dun. Again keep the great work hope to see you all in the air.

1.08.10 End of the Month Update. I would like to first wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a safe and great holidays. I would also like to again welcome all our new pilots to Orlando, it is great to have you all join us. As you all can see we had another great month for December. I didn't expect the numbers to be this high since we all have a lot of irons in the fire during th holidays, great job. Congrats to Ronald Hoffman, he had a grand total of 482 flight for the year 2009 great job Ron. Again keep the great work hope to see you all in the air.
